Patrick advises Canadian and international organizations on public policy, stakeholder engagement, government relations and organizational positioning. Working with executive leadership teams, boards and investors, he helps organizations navigate Canada’s political and policy environment, think through difficult decisions and develop practical strategies which support their long-term objectives.
Patrick believes the best public affairs strategies begin long before the first government meeting. He works closely with clients to clarify objectives, challenge assumptions and identify where business priorities, public policy and stakeholder interests align. Whether supporting a global company entering the Canadian market or advising an organization through significant policy or regulatory change, Patrick is known for combining sound, strategic insight with practical advice and for helping clients build thoughtful, credible approaches to engagement.
A self-described generalist, Patrick enjoys quickly understanding new industries and the forces shaping them. Drawing on leadership roles across government, Parliament, industry and consulting, he helps clients bridge the worlds of business and public policy, translating complex policy and business issues into practical advice for executives while helping business objectives resonate with governments, policymakers and other stakeholders. His experience spans advanced technology, defence and security, financial services, manufacturing, agriculture, energy, transportation and health.
Patrick has long been active in Canada’s public affairs profession. He is the Past President of the Government Relations Institute of Canada and a co-founder of the Canadian Advocacy Network. He has also served on the boards of Earnscliffe, the Writers’ Trust of Canada, the Bruyère Health Foundation and the Alma Mater Society of Queen’s University, among other organizations. In 2012, he was selected to participate in the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference.
Patrick holds a Master of Science in Public Policy from the London School of Economics, where he studied as a Chevening Scholar and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies from Queen’s University.
