What’s most notable about the federal Conservative leadership race is the number of potentially good candidates who have passed on running. Former interim leader Rona Ambrose, former Quebec premier Jean Charest, and current Ontario MP Pierre Poilievre all had plenty of money and backing to mount a competitive bid. But all declined.
