Tyra Henschel joined Earnscliffe Strategy Group to lead an expanded service offering for clients in Alberta and across the country. In previous roles, she led teams on controversial files in key sectors implementing strong external communications including stakeholder outreach, investor relations and media. She will bring this experience to help Earnscliffe clients navigate a wide range of business and public policy issues.
Tyra’s corporate career spans more than 25 years in oil and gas, North American railroads and large Canadian financial institutions. She is a past Vice President of External Affairs for Royal Dutch Shell in Canada. Tyra is a senior executive known for her strategic and creative approach in helping to resolve some of these industries largest communications challenges. At Shell she designed and implemented a global program to assist their oil sands business to counter mounting public, shareholder and environmental activism that was affecting share price. The success of this program led to adoption of similar guiding principles by the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers.
Since leaving Shell, Tyra ran her own consulting practice providing executive services to a diverse energy sector client base. She has worked on two major LNG projects and is well versed on the intricacies of the global LNG marketplace and how they translate into the political and economic landscape in BC.
Tyra began her career as a broadcast journalist in Vancouver, BC and has an MBA from Boston College with a specialization in corporate social responsibility/social license. She is highly familiar with First Nations considerations in Canada from both her work experience and her First Nations family background herself.
