Harry Near   principal

Harry Near has spent over twenty-five years as a government affairs consultant advising private sector companies on strategies and tactics for best dealing with the federal government.

Prior to his government consulting career Mr. Near worked in business, government and also as a political volunteer. From 1970 to 1979 he worked for Imperial Oil Limited in a number of company departments. In 1979 and 1984 he was Senior Policy Advisor and Chief of Staff to the federal Ministers of Energy, Mines and Resources.

Through the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and continuing today he has been a political advisor to Progressive Conservative parties and governments at both the federal and provincial level.  In 1984 and in 1988 he was the National Campaign Director for the Progressive Conservative party national election campaigns.  He continues as an advisor to Conservative Party candidates today.

Mr. Near has an Honours Bachelor Mathematics (1969) from the University of Waterloo and an MBA (1974) from the University of Toronto. He serves as a director on boards of a number of private and public sector companies and organizations.
